It's simple, but doesn't make it a bad game!
Pixel Boy is one of those games where you're mindlessly playing it, because you just HAVE too get every piece of fruit, it becomes obsessive! Not really, but in a way it kind of directed too that direction.
Controls were easy to use, and basic, which suffices the players satisfaction in this point of the game, jumping on all the bad little crabbies was also very satisfying. The physics engine wasn't really that good, I disliked the fall delay, as it took quite a while to fall back down onto terrestrial ground. When jumping on higher grounds, my character disappears from the screen, making it a tad bit difficult to know where I was at the point, whether I would land safely, or plunder down to my death.
The story to Pixel Boy was also rather bland, and it did not appeal to any originality in this aspect. A crab yells at him, and acts mean, and Pixel Boy runs off too get revenge, which brings up the question..
...what does collecting fruit have to do with getting revenge on a crab?
Anyways, in conclusion, this Flash deserves its privilege to survive in the NewGrounds Flash portal. If I were to reconmend this game to somone, it would be to grade school kids, as they will play just about anything that has little sense to it, with some crab busting added to it.
